Welcome to Back Pew Greetings!
This website is dedicated to those generous souls who occupy the back pew at church and in life in general. You sacrifice comfort, wedged in between squirming children whose parents have ignored the announcement that there is a nursery in the basement and an elderly widower who begins to snore right after the announcements are made.
You do this of course so that others may have the full benefit of the preacher staring down from the pulpit at the nearest parishioner when making a point about a particular sin or two.
You know what it is like to arrive at church only to find out that Daylight Savings started early this year.
You are one of us who not only don’t have the answers, but you’re not quite sure you even heard the questions correctly.
Due to people’s sensitivity to religion and our fear of being consumed by fire, great efforts are made to stay away from anything that casts The Almighty in a humorous light. Rather, this site concentrates on man’s imperfections in applying God’s teachings to church and life in general.
The underlying proposition is quite simple: “Man doesn’t get it.” God had two rules for Adam: 1) Do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and 2) Obey all rules. Adam did not “get it”, and as a result, we have suffered from plagues, natural disasters, bad fashion and telemarketers ever since.
